Dr. Ken Bain, award-winning author of What the Best College Teachers Do and What the Best College Students Do, will speak to the Cannon School community on the topic of encouraging young people to learn for understanding. This school year, Cannon’s faculty members are utilizing Dr. Bain’s books to frame their conversations around creating deeper learning and self-awareness in our students to prepare them even more completely for college and life.

Dr. Ken Bain

Bain is a Professor of History and former Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of the District of Columbia. He is the founding director of four major teaching and learning centers: the Center for Teaching Excellence at New York University, the Searle Center for Teaching Excellence at Northwestern University, the Center for Teaching at Vanderbilt University, and the Research Academy for University Learning at Montclair University. Bain’s books are widely adopted by universities around the world and are among the top selling books on college education.
